MOLD INSPECTIONS

If you have found your way to this page then you are concerned about MOLD.  Many questions come up as to why now, if MOLD has been around us for millions of years why is it we have only heard about in the past few.  The answer is 2 fold, first and most important was the change in construction materials from plaster to drywall/sheet-rock about 20+ years ago.  Second, the energy efficiency of current building code restricts or prevents homes from breathing, therefore any moisture that might breach the structure can be trapped.  It only take 2 things to create a favorable environment for MOLD to grow, moisture or a humidity level in excess of 55% and a cellulose material such as drywall, so you can see why it is the newer homes that have become more susceptible to mold then the older homes.
